Research in computing and informatics includes research on data structures, data mining, large distributed GRID structures, language technologies, computer vision, augmented reality, privacy management, and human-computer interaction. In doing so, they intervene in the wider field of mathematics, namely the field of algebra, combinatorics with graph theory and probability calculus, mathematical modeling and computer simulations and experimental economics, as well as the research of social systems, in the fields of electronic data protection - cryptography, data protection and computer security.
UP has the Center for Cryptography and the Humans Interacting with Computers Lab.
